How we define “trailing”
Each fund’s 1-year return is compared with the typical (median) return of similar funds through May 2026, from SEC Form N-PORT filings. A fund ahead of them over 3 years doesn’t count as trailing. Similar means the same category and, where its name tells us, the same style (growth, value or blend) or sector. We leave out funds with bad price data, and bond funds that were filed under stocks.
